About this Blog

I am breeding horticultural Salvias as a hobby.  With an emphasis on Calosphace subgenus.

This Blog will:
  • describe interesting hybrids that I have produced,
  • discuss development of the methods that I use,
  • cover some issues in breeding horticultural Salvias and
  • discuss some of the relevant scientific literature,
I welcome feedback and comments but especially I would like to engage in discussion with others who are breeding horticultural species, including Salvias.

I do not offer plants for sale.  Hybrids that satisfy the criteria for commercial success will be commercialised through Plants Management Australia (www.pma.com.au).  Other hybrids that may be of interest to keen gardeners or Salvia collectors  may be available from nurseries that specialise in Salvias.  I am happy to discuss access to these hybrids with nurseries.

The first variety from this program has been named 'Love and Wishes' see http://www.pma.com.au/view_plant.asp?plant_id=324

  1. I know that this post is a bit old, but I'm a salvia breeder too. I am new to salvia breeding and if it is possible I would like to share some breeding techniques information with each other
